Application of P.C.D. & Natural Diamond Wire Drawing Dies

P.C.D. Dies are used to draw both ferrous and non-ferrous metals at both high and low speeds due to its quality of thermal conductivity which enables it to observer the heat, which generates while drawing, from the die bore and also helps the die to maintain its diameter for a longer time. P.C.D. Blanks are available in different grain sizes i.e. 3 um, 5 um, 25 um, 50 um which Ajex chooses itself according to the customers' demand or their preference.

Natural & Mono Diamond dies are usually used to draw very fine wire and in some cases to draw the final sizes, where better surface finish of wire is required.

Now a days, wire drawing units are preferring the use of P.C.D. wire drawing dies instead of Natural diamond dies except in some special cases due to life & Re-Boring capacity obtaining from P.C.D. Dies.

One-Piece Powdered Metal Mounting
Special one-piece powdered metal mounting offers support on all sides of the diamond.

AJEX Wire Die's one-piece mounting utilizes a powdered metal matrix which provides rigid reinforcement of the diamond enabling it to withstand the drawing forces encountered, thereby reducing diebreakage and improving die life. The powdered metal matrix also provides good thermal conductivity to dissipate the heat geneerated during the wire drawing process.

Polycrystalline Diamond (P.C.D.) consists of a fully sintered mass of fine diamond crystals, containing a small amount of cobalt in its matrix from, which results in a very hard and wear resistant quality of diamond.

Natural Diamond in turn is the P.C. of a stone which is mined and then cut and flatted from two sides of produce the parallel faces, and it does not have the toughness and strength which P.C.D. has.

So after experiencing and detailed study of features of both P.C.D. and Natural diamond, Ajex provides and guides the Customers according to their requirement and best suitability, for the past 35 years upto their best satisfaction.

From the above table, the advantage of synthetic Diamond Dies over Natural Dies and T.C. Dies are evident. The relative performance estimates shown in the above table are based on date collected from several large wire-drawing uniform the relative performance values given above could result from unsatisfactory machine and other working conditions. Wire drawing units are fast changural Dies to synthetic to maximise output and accuracy and gain cost benefits.
